Five-Section Format

The examination was conducted in five time-bound sections, with each section containing 36 questions. Candidates were allotted 42 minutes for each section.

The section-wise time restriction made pacing particularly important. Unlike an examination in which candidates can freely move across the entire question paper, the sectional format required students to complete each section within its designated time.

Clinical And Application-Based Questions

The NEET PG 2026 paper continued to test candidates on the practical application of medical knowledge. Clinical scenarios, diagnosis-based questions, investigation-related concepts and management approaches formed an important part of the examination.

The paper also included questions requiring candidates to differentiate between closely related clinical conditions and apply concepts to specific patient scenarios. A detailed assessment of the proportion of clinical, image-based and factual questions will be possible once more memory-based recalls become available.

Subject-Wise Analysis

The paper covered subjects across the MBBS curriculum, including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Preventive and Social Medicine, Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, along with other clinical and para-clinical subjects.

NEET PG 2025 had considerable representation from Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine, General Surgery, Pathology, Pharmacology and PSM.

Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry had comparatively less direct representation, with their concepts frequently integrated into broader clinical questions.

Around 30% of questions or concepts were also reported to have some direct or indirect overlap with previous-year topics and recent FMGE recall material.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) successfully conducted the NEET-PG 2026 examination today, 30 August 2026, across the country with comprehensive logistical, technological, security and manpower arrangements to ensure a fair, secure and seamless examination process.

The examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 examination centres across 339 cities, covering all 36 States and Union Territories. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination, with the examination successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates.

While the examination was successfully completed for the overwhelming majority of candidates nationwide, an unforeseen technical disruption occurred at iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura Centres, Jaipur, Rajasthan (TC Nos. 41682 and 41683), where the examination could not be completed for 2,445 candidates due to internal power supply issues at the test centres, attributable to M/s TCS Ltd., the examination conducting agency.

NBEMS said it deeply regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates and has taken prompt steps to ensure that they are provided a fair and equitable opportunity to appear in NEET-PG 2026.

Accordingly, re-examination of all affected candidates will be conducted on Saturday, 5 September 2026, at 3:00 PM in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Venue details and other examination-related instructions will be communicated separately to the concerned candidates.

The examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 examination centres across 339 cities, covering all 36 States and Union Territories. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination, with the examination successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates.

The nationwide examination was supported by extensive real-time monitoring and stringent security measures. A total of 2,527 faculty members were appointed as Independent Appraisers to oversee the conduct of the examination. In addition, more than 700 senior faculty members, including Deans, Directors, Medical Superintendents and senior professors, were deployed as Flying Squad members.

The NEET PG 2026 exam will conclude in less than 20 minutes. Students will be notified of the analysis and student reactions here.

The examination is being held for admission to postgraduate medical courses, including MD, MS and PG Diploma programmes. The paper assesses candidates across the MBBS curriculum, covering Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical and Clinical subjects. The syllabus includes subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine and Social and Preventive Medicine, along with clinical subjects including General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dermatology, Psychiatry, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Anaesthesiology, Radiodiagnosis and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Students have begun writing their NEET PG 2026 examination. The examination concludes at 12:30 pm, following which students will be shared paper analysis, difficulty level and student reactions here.

The NEET PG 2026 examination will begin in less than half an hour, as the gates to the examination halls have been closed across centres. 

From 8:45 am onwards, students sitting at the exam desk will be allowed to access the login window on their computer. The exam will be held from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

The entry to the examination centre closes in five minutes. Students must enter now as they will not be allowed to enter after 8:30 am.

A NEET PG aspirant has reportedly died, a day before the examination. She was found in her hostel room near RTX X roads on Saturday. Police reported she left a note stating that she was struggling with depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts for several years. 

After the examination concludes, attention will shift to the question paper analysis and candidate reactions. This live blog will be updated with the overall difficulty level, subject-wise analysis, questions reported by candidates and major topics asked. Further updates on the result, counselling and other official announcements will also be added as and when they are released.

Candidates appearing for NEET PG 2026 must carry their admit card to the examination centre along with a valid government-issued photo ID proof. Candidates should also carry a recent passport-size photograph, wherever specified in the examination instructions. It is important to check the admit card carefully and ensure that all required documents are ready before leaving for the examination centre.

The entry to the examination hall has started at 7 am. Candidates may enter to the exam hall after they complete the mandatory security and identitiy checking. 

• Admit Card (Print): High-resolution colour printout of barcoded/QR-coded admit card generated by NBEMS. 

• Passport Size Photograph: Recent photograph for pasting on the admit card at the designated place. 

• Registration Certificate: Original or photocopied copy of SMC/MCI/NMC Registration Certificate. 

• Government Photo ID Proof: Valid original ID proof like PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, or other Government Issued ID Proof. (Digitally generated IDs saved on phone/DigiLocker will not be accepted).

The NEET PG 2026 examination will be held from 9 am to 12:30 pm today, August 30, 2026. Students must ensure they carry their admit card and other important documents including photographs and ID, for entry to the examination hall.
